While Laura Seeley is a lifelong creative & comes from a family of artists, it was her move to San Francisco in 2001 that solidified her passion for painting. Working primarily in acrylics, also having perfected skills in composition, drawing and watercolor, Laura’s work is based in surrealism with figures often in whimsical composition inviting the viewer to explore. As an award-winning artist, Laura uses abstract humans and animals often with hidden lyrical and poetic meanings. Her work is often used to support animal causes and rescues. It’s her humanity in art. Laura believes, “It is said that folks who love both art and animals tend to live longer!” Her work has been represented by galleries in San Francisco, New Orleans, San Diego & Los Angeles and featured in multiple exhibitions. Laura Seeley is the author and illustrator of several books in print over 20-years and has created unique artwork for other authors achieving New York Times Best Seller status. Her books have won awards in both art and literature. Her most recent book, “A Cat Never Tells” was a summertime sellout in 2018 Laguna Beach Festival of arts. Her extensive resume’ highly regarded & recognizable humanized fantastic feline artworks led her to being the featured artist and selected to illustrate world renown prestigious The International Financiers Association yearbook cover Laura taught at the Atlanta College of Art in conjunction with the High Museum and co-founded Atlanta’s Authors and Artists Program for the public schools. Originally from Andover Massachusetts, Laura currently lives in Dana Point California where she creates daily in her studio and gallery.
